Social Media

TwitterWe recently had a discussion at Viewpoint regarding our company’s Twitter activity, and we were presented with the statistic that over 200 million people are on Twitter and LinkedIn, and 1 in 7 people ON EARTH are on Facebook. That is a pretty staggering statistic!

I was among the first Freshmen college class to use Facebook, back when it was impressive to have 100 Facebook friends. Almost seven years later it feels like everyone from your Grandma to your dentist has an account. A huge part of my job in Marketing is to speak with people on the phone about our software. But I also research the companies that I speak with, and have noticed a significant increase in construction companies sharing their company Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter pages on their websites. It made me wonder if companies are on these sites because it was part of their marketing strategy, or if they felt they had to join the “social media bandwagon” to stay current. My questions for you are: 1) is your company on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn, and 2) How are you using it help your business?

All of that said – what does that mean to us?  Where does Facebook fit into our world (our world = construction industry)?  Well – we put thought to this and here is where we ended up…

Social Media and Construction? Many think social media is the latest fad and you may certainly question why you even need to think about it as you’re likely doing just fine without it. And seriously, do you really need another channel to respond to. More clutter? You’re likely feeling overwhelmed just keeping up with your email!

Many of our customers are not yet using social media for business and may feel as you do. In fact, the construction industry is not overly active. Yet.
